"AirAsia X is just an extension of AirAsia. Everyone is asking me when I am opening new routes. It is an answer to what the market wants. We are definitely entering the Indian market with Amritsar as our first destination. We would like to call it the Punjabi Express. There is more to come in time." (Tony Fernandes) Full storyhere

$%*'`[nnydd]%*'`@Nah. As I said many years ago, the better option is to fly to south India. Jetstar flew to Kolkata and Bangalore but already stopped these services. Now we have Tiger Airways flying into Kochi and Chennai. From what I observe, the Kochi route is not very popular among Singaporean budget conscious travellers but the Chennai one is selling hot they dont offer price cut that often at all.

If Air Asia would like to penetrate the Indian market, they should seriously consider Chennai, Kochi. Trivandrum, and Hyderabad. Also, they should also offer services to Chennai and southern Indian cities from Penang where large number of Tamil-speaking Indians live.
